Mission 5

In February 2007, few supporters of Guy's Mercy Mission decided to have a fund raising ball. The idea was from Diane Harvey-White, whose children attended Dulwich College, the same school as Mr Austins children Nicholas and Ashley.

The site HMS Belfast was chosen, which had catering facilities for a maximum of 144 was chosen, and the target was to fund a single mission - aim of £15,000.00 Soon the sponsorship was taken over by Paul Scally the Chairman of Gillingham Football Club. The event raised £17,000.00 in the ship, and the combined effect of all the publicity bought in a total exceeding £50,000.00

We were able to announce a single donation of £15,000.00 from Victoria & David Beckhams Childrens Charity.

As this donation came in full before funds from the event we are utilising these funds for Mission 5. There were two other major donors of £10,000.00 and £6,000.00

These donations has catapulted our charity to a different level, and we
are now considering the restructuring of our mission.

Dainty little Rishmiya Banu was all smiles as she walked up to greet her doctor Conal Austin last Sunday. Her parents watching her with pride had tears in their eyes, remembering the time, not so long ago when Rishmiya was a very sick little girl. The family had travelled all the way from Kurunegala to Galle in damp and dismal weather but it was a journey they made with great eagerness. They were there to express the deep gratitude they felt to the team of doctors, nurses and other medical personnel who travel from London each year to help Sri Lankan children like Rishmiya who suffered from congenital heart diseases.
